Things for which I am Thankful, Days 6 and 7

In the process of transitioning from Tumblr to Wordpress, I neglected to close out my weeks worth of posts on things for which I am thankful. I came up empty on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I thought I’d backdate a couple of entries for that purpose.

Mom had the table all set from the start. Though we were missing two in Chicago, it was nice to have substantially all the family around the table for Turkey Day.

The New When[It]StrikesMe.com

This page will remain active at tumblr.whenitstrikesme.com, but the main WhenItStrikesMe.com has moved over to a WordPress supported site.  I like the new look and feel for it.

As I watch my Tumblarity tumble toward zero

I have come to the conclusion that I’m going to be transitioning from the Tumblr format, to a more long-form friendly format.  It probably will be either Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org.  Nevertheless, I’m going to keep checking my dashboard on here, as I enjoy reading the latest interwebs fun and anti-creationist rants (which seem to be what Tumblr is best for).  For those few followers I do have on here who would like to continue to read, when I’m set up on Wordpress, I’ll advise.  They have email subscription features.

My Tumblr experience was fun, but I found the format to be a massive time-suck and the themes really aren’t ideal for what I’m looking to do.  Ultimately, the forum was dictating my content production.  I’d prefer it to be vice versa.

It’s been fun.

"Let it be known across the lands that Verizon’s .net email accounts have the absolute worst spam filter known to man. And what’s up with only being able to block 100 addresses as permaspam?
Ugh, time to start transitioning friends to my gmail account."

For someone lacking skills, I’ve got savvy

I’ve finally fully figured out the domain thing.

On twitter, you can currently follow When[It]StrikesMe and RebloggingWhen[It]StrikesMe @WhenItStrikesMe.  You can follow Quotably @QuotablyTweet

And, I believe you can follow all three if you’re on Tumblr by visiting each and hitting “+Follow” to you Dashboard.

Reblog: Also, I assume random dude’s marriage proposal shit is why the servers have been messed up for the last 30 minutes.

Frack that dude, I hope she says no.

I bet the chick doesn’t even exist.  Just a random (and well plotted) Tumblarity grab.

An explanatory note

When I started my primary blog, When [It] Strikes Me, I intended it to serve as a true web journal… an opportunity for me to get my thoughts out there.  I realized quite quickly that it devolved into reblogging and focusing on viral material.  That wasn’t what I wanted for it, so I’ve used the ease of Tumblr for managing multiple blogs to create RebloggingWhenItStrikesMe (for reblogs and viral posts) and Quotably (for favorite quotes).

This will, undoubtedly, kill my Tumblarity; however, in spite of the allure of Tumblr’s version of built in crack, I am more than happy to commit Tumblarity hari kari in order clean things up.

Vowels are Coming… Via Google (Update)

I’ve been updating on the continuing struggle of certain Eastern European visitors of this site and their unfortunate lack of vowels.  You too can help the children of countries that don’t have enough vowels to spell the names of their cities.  Cities like Bydogoszcz, Poland and Nykldhza, Hungary.

While When[It]StrikesMe works on creating it’s 501(c)(3) to provide needy children with a their daily supplement of vowels, Google has pledged their support via Ad Selection.

Read how by clicking through below.

Vowels are coming, do not despair…

Saturday, I mentioned getting a hit from Bydogoszcz, Poland.

Well, today I was visited by a poor, vowel-ly challenged soul from Nykldhza, Hungary (this blog apparently being the underground railroad for people behind the former Iron Curtain who would like to be able to pronounce things).

Well, do not despair.  Much like Bill Clinton in the 1990s, I promise to bring you vowels.
